Spin Around Waltz - A new choreography to teach Beginner Level 2 Basic Waltz Steps

This waltz was created to introduce basic waltz steps to my beginner class (Level 2), using slow, easy movement that lets new dancers settle comfortably into the rhythm. The music is by Canadian singer‑songwriter Norm Hacking, whose gentle tempo makes learning feel relaxed and enjoyable. The dance is 24 counts with a simple tag that repeats three times, giving students plenty of time to practice the flow of the waltz without feeling rushed. You can see a demo on u-tube here. Here is a link to the Walk-though

We will be learning it on Wednesday.

Carleton Heights Community Centre Level 2 - July 29th Line-up

We had an easy‑going session in Level 2 where I introduced a new dance, and we ran through it twice. We also spent time working on the restarts and got everyone moving together on the same page. It turned into a really fun hour filled with smiles and laughter — fun, fun, fun.

This is what we did:

Carleton Heights Community Centre Level 1 - July 29th Line-up

This week in Level 1 we introduced the V‑step, the jazz box with a ¼ turn, hip bumps, and a fun cross‑point combination. Everyone slipped into the groove so naturally. I saw a noticeable step forward from the whole group, and we spent a lovely hour together dancing.

Carleton Heights Community Centre Level 2 - July 15th

We have a wonderful group in Level 2. On our very first day together, we learned five new dances, and everyone stayed sharp, focused, and completely on top of things. I was genuinely impressed by how quickly you picked up the patterns and how smoothly you moved through each section. The energy in the room was steady, musical, and connected — it was absolutely enchanting to dance with you all. I’m already looking forward to next week.

Here’s what we did— feel free to check the dances out ahead of class.

Carleton Heights Community Centre Summer 2026 - Level 1 Line-up July 15th

Great first day with our new Level One group. We started completely from scratch and learned four dances, plus a bit of Fly Like a Bird before the fire alarm sent us outside. Once we were out there, we figured—why not dance? So we reviewed Quitter’s Groove without music, and the footwork was suddenly much easier the second time. Good work, everyone. Until next week.

Here’s what we did — feel free to check the dances out ahead of class.

My New Choreography - Somebody Sway June 2026

Somebody Sway is a little beginner (2 walls, 2 restarts) choreography I created for my dancers this summer. We worked on it together in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, and I’m happy to share it here. A gentle, joyful moment of group dancing. And here is a link to a u-tube teach video
