Carleton Heights Community Centre Level 2 - August 5th Line-up

I definitely challenged my Level 2 class today with four new dances, including my new Spin Around Waltz — and they danced it so well. I honestly wish I had a video of them doing it, because the flow and confidence were beautiful to watch.

It was a lot of fun exploring these new dances together, and the group learned everything with focus, energy, and great teamwork. A solid hour of dancing and a really rewarding class.

Today was a solid learning day for my Level One class. We covered a lot of new material: dealing with holds, introducing the step‑lock‑step combination, cross rock, the turning K‑step, the Charleston, and the rumba box. That’s a big list for beginners, and it was really nice to see how well everyone handled each new element.

The progress — and especially the confidence — is really starting to show in your dancing. You’re moving with intention, picking things up faster, and trusting your bodies more each week.

Well done, everyone!

My New Dance High Valley Fools is an Improver Dance with a Canadian Flair

I’ve just finished a brand‑new improver line dance called High Valley Fools, set to Fools by High Valley, an energetic Canadian country band whose music always makes me smile. This one has a fun bounce, wizard steps, heel‑ball‑cross patterns, and a couple of easy turns that fit the rhythm perfectly.

You can watch a Demo Here: High Valley Fools Demo

New Boots, Montreal Smiles

I was so excited to pick up my new cowboy boots in Montreal yesterday. Here I am with the owner Johnny of Go West — such a great experience and a beautiful pair of boots.

Spin Around Waltz - A new choreography to teach Beginner Level 2 Basic Waltz Steps

This waltz was created to introduce basic waltz steps to my beginner class (Level 2), using slow, easy movement that lets new dancers settle comfortably into the rhythm. The music is by Canadian singer‑songwriter Norm Hacking, whose gentle tempo makes learning feel relaxed and enjoyable. The dance is 24 counts with a simple tag that repeats three times, giving students plenty of time to practice the flow of the waltz without feeling rushed. You can see a demo on u-tube here. Here is a link to the Walk-though

We will be learning it on Wednesday.

Carleton Heights Community Centre Level 2 - July 15th

We have a wonderful group in Level 2. On our very first day together, we learned five new dances, and everyone stayed sharp, focused, and completely on top of things. I was genuinely impressed by how quickly you picked up the patterns and how smoothly you moved through each section. The energy in the room was steady, musical, and connected — it was absolutely enchanting to dance with you all. I’m already looking forward to next week.

Here’s what we did— feel free to check the dances out ahead of class.
